35mm is bound to be the standard lens for M rangefinder cameras - as it has always been.  The Leica Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH Black Lens 11673 is an extremely fast and classic prime lens which delivers remarkable image performace and an unique bokeh effect. Despite its high speed and exceptional image quality, its dimensions are astoundingly compact to benefit its use as an everyday, go-to lens for M shooters.. With its eleven blade iris, this new generation lens creates a circular aperture, providing out of focus areas an extremely smooth look and feel. Images are pin-sharp with a rich contrast and almost completely free from distortion.
Comprised of seven elements in five groups, and incorporating a single aspherical element, this lens eliminates nearly all distortions and spherical aberrations throughout the focusing range. This design also contributes to a high degree of sharpness, contrast, and clarity, and the f/2 maximum aperture enables working in difficult lighting conditions with ease.  
One aspherical element is featured in the optical design to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion for increased sharpness and clarity.

Manual focus design provides a minimum focusing distance of 2.3' with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:17.5.
The front of the lens has 39mm-diameter and features a full-metal rectangular lens hood with a thread mount and a threaded protection ring for the front of the lens when the hood is not attached.
